WHEN IS A DREAM NOT A DREAM ?
WHEN YOU ARE IN THE WORLD OF THE MAGIC LOCKER OF COURSE
.

The Magic Locker is the story of a seven-year-old boy’s dread of being in hospital, and tells how he encounters ‘The Sleepy Time Keeper,’ a cartoon-like character with spiky red hair and a cheeky face, who takes him through the locker door on his bed, into a strange world of fantasy and dreams, peopled by unusual characters.  The world of the Magic Locker is an enchanted place called Heswobble in the picturesque Wibble, and here little Billy visits Farmer Mary on Oggleboggle Farm, where he is allowed to fly across the sky on the back of Esmerelda, the Queen of Unicorns. He meets the beautiful and very eccentric witch, Dolly Daydream, who uses a vacuum broom instead of an ordinary broom to take her from one place to another. Everyone in Heswobble possesses magical powers, and even all the animals can talk and do wonderful things.

The Sleepy Time Keeper calls for Billy everyday, and on his bed they fly along the estuary and across the Wibble sky to Heswobble, where Billy meets eccentric people such as Mr Jingles, the Musical Rainbow Man; Brem the giant; Mick the Wizard, who is a direct descendent of Merlin the Magician, and his wife, Valzamere, a great, great something or other of King Arthur’s wife, Guinevere.

On each occasion Billy returns from the World of the Magic Locker with a souvenir, which he promises to keep forever and ever.

And then, the most exciting thing happens to Billy…

But, to find out you will have to read the book for yourself.

Although I’m not suppose to tell you, I discovered some years ago that Heswobble is really Heswall; Wibble is Wirral, and Oggleboggle Farm is really Oldfield Farm in Heswall. So there, now you know.  But, you mustn’t tell anyone! Promise?
